2021, the year that will be remembered for stamp duty mania, Colin the Caterpillar’s PR scandal and the great Facebook crash. For us and so many others, the last year has been one of recovery. Here’s what we’ve been up to in the last twelve months…
New names, new faces
After a turbulent 2020, we’ve been so pleased to welcome no less than 10 new clients to our portfolio in the last year, including retirement developer Savista, shared ownership provider Love Living Homes and housing association Gateway. 2021 also gave us the opportunity to work on some new sites for our established clients, namely Berkeley’s landmark Oval Village regeneration scheme in South West London, alongside four public engagement consultations for new developments.
The PHM family has also grown! Megan and Niamh joined us as Account Executives in the summer, and Emily has come aboard as an intern. In December, we then welcomed Katy, our new Account Manager. We’ve also widened our expert team of writers, advisers and consultants… watch this space for some social media news in the spring!
Living in a more digital world
Now more than ever, at PHM we believe a cohesive approach to PR and marketing is essential for success – and digital is here to stay. Alongside managing our clients’ social media channels, in 2021 we expanded our influencer network even further, facilitating a wide range of blog and social media campaigns. This included collaborations with property YouTubers on showhome tours across three Berkeley developments generating a total of 184,788 views, 5,000 likes and 612 comments.
In 2021, webinars continued to prove incredibly impactful when leading discussions with investor audiences. As such, we facilitated an online market discussion led by property journalist Anne Ashworth for Berkeley’s Eden Grove Scheme and chaired a webinar of panellists for St Edward’s Oval Village development that included Vauxhall One and agents Benham and Reeves.
There’s still space for traditional
It’s fair to say 2020 was an especially trying year for print news – especially in commuter titles – so we were so glad to see the return of property supplements in 2021. We continued to identify the best opportunities and secure media coverage for our clients’ target audiences, from securing a full page in City A.M. for Berkeley’s 250 City Road, achieving the cover of Evening Standard’s Homes and Property for St Edward’s Green Park Village, as well as a full-page first-time buyer story in the Money section of The Times for Berkeley’s Woodberry Down.
We also welcomed the comeback of in-person events to drive footfall to sites including a ‘meet the neighbours’ event at Gateway’s Earlham Square, a health and wellbeing themed drop-in at Goodman’s Fields and a family scooter day at St Edward’s Hartland Village.
2021 saw a huge increase in demand for our community consultation services. After a two-year engagement process, VIVID Homes has submitted its planning application for new homes and landscaped green space near Guildford Cathedral. Our community outreach programme results in over 100 people attending our first community planning day, 4,026 visits to the givemyview.com page and 11,303 votes cast on the online survey.
We also consulted with the Fleet community regarding plans for the third phase of Hartland Village, led the first round of community engagement for the regeneration of North Street in Guildford for St Edward and supported local developer Stax Group with their online consultation.
Taking home trophies
At PHM we have built a strong reputation for our quality of award entries, and in 2021 we prepared 63 of them! We ended the year on a high at The What House? Awards, having witnessed seven of our entries on behalf of clients win top prizes, including Gold Awards for Berkeley Group as Best Large Housebuilder, Broadway Living for Best Starter Home and St George for Best Interior Design.
Its fair to say that 2021 has been quite a year for PHM! If you’d like to discuss our services, whether that’s supporting you with your sales and marketing strategy, executing a corporate communications plan or preparing and facilitating a community engagement programme, get in touch with us today!
