Thomasons makes great strides towards its Next award!
It was another successful day for PHM client Thomasons yesterday, as the civil and structural engineering firm discovered it’s in the running for another award to add to its string of accolades – this time for its retail project in Solihull.
The project, by Thomasons Birmingham, to transform a retail unit for Next, in Solihull, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Low Carbon Leader category of the 2016 New Civil Engineer 100 Awards. These brand new awards recognise firms that are leading the way in showcasing outstanding civil engineering practices.
Thomasons’ project for Next has already won a prestigious Institution of Structural Engineers regional award and was described by the judges as “an excellent example of engineering prowess”. It involved complex and significant alterations to a single storey 35,000 sq ft retail unit to boost the floor space. A new mezzanine floor was added, which required raising the entire roof by 1.5 metres.
The winners will be announced at the New Civil Engineer 100 Awards on 11th May 2016 in London. We’ll keep a close eye on it and report back, and if you’d like to find out more about this project click here, and for other news from Thomasons, visit www.thomasons.co.uk/news/.
