Nikki Ackerley is founder and managing director of Property House Marketing and its parent company, The House Group. Nikki’s writing career began in 1991 when she joined The Surrey Advertiser as property correspondent, a role she held for 15 years and one which won her the accolade of Regional Property Correspondent of the Year. A year after joining the paper, Nikki was asked to undertake some PR for a local estate agent and a developer, and Property House Marketing was formed. In 2015, she was named one of Surrey’s top 50 business women by Surrey Chamber of Commerce. Nikki’s love of property and place-making extends beyond the office; she is an active supporter of the Guildford Vision Group. Nikki also turned developer herself in 2012 when she converted a former library, cottage and dance studio to create our office and four apartments. After almost 25 years in the industry, Nikki’s extensive network of contacts spans the property industry and the many journalists with whom PHM works. Her team will testify that she can put a name to most faces and would notice a rogue apostrophe from a mile away. My dream home: While I live in a period house, I also love modern contemporary homes with loads of glass and huge open plan entertaining spaces so I'd love a penthouse looking over the River Thames or a house in a wood where glass walls would create a seamless division between inside and outside. One room that always sticks in my mind is the dining room of the former Criterion Restaurant in Piccadilly. It's sublime bling…but executed with immense glamour.
