Nikki Ackerley, managing director of PHM, checks up on the CowParade cow
CowParade is one of the world’s most popular public art events, so when we ‘herd’ it was coming to Surrey, PHM jumped on board to take up the chance to sponsor a cow in support of one of our favourite charities – Challengers.
In our recent blog, we announced the arrival of the PHM cow at our talented Ockham-based artist Colette Clegg’s studios on Blackmoor Farm and so our managing director, Nikki Ackerley, stopped by to see how the decoration process was coming along.
Nikki comments: “It was great to be able to call in at Colette’s beautiful home and studio – it’s on a farm so it couldn’t be a more fitting location for our cow!
“As we’re a property PR company, we asked Colette to come up with a design that reflected our love of property – and our love of Guildford. We think her final design of Guildford’s townscape is brilliant – those who know the town well will be able to spot some familiar buildings and landmarks. We’ve incorporated Challengers into our design too by discreetly including the star that’s in their logo into the sky.
“I didn’t realise the challenge Colette faced in scaling up her design from an A4 drawing into painting it onto a life-sized fibreglass cow. Although the decoration process is in its very early days, I can see that the final design is going to look absolutely fantastic.”
Colette has also set up a time-lapse video camera in the studio so make sure you continue to monitor our social media channels for the video of the entire decoration process when it’s finished.
The first opportunity to see our cow in all its grazing glory, as well as some other fully-decorated cows, will be at the Surrey County Show on 30th May. After the County Show the cows will all be moved to various locations throughout Surrey until the end of August. We’re now hoping our cow will be in Guildford’s Castle Grounds.
