Parliamentary prestige project peeked in the press

As the mainstream media focuses on Westminster to cover Britain’s potential exit from the EU, the property pages have honed in on the area for a completely different reason.

With the final phase of apartments at Berkeley Homes’ Abell & Cleland now launched, the development, in John Islip Street, is rightly being recognised as one of the most desirable collection of apartments now available in London.

In addition to The London Economic coverage Berkeley Homes’ Abell & Cleland achieved last month, it also featured in the Homes and Property Supplement of The Evening Standard, and MoveTo London Magazine.

In the Evening Standard article, Will apartments near Parliament get your vote?, Abell & Cleland was highlighted for its setting in a “remarkably quiet corner” of the “Parliamentary Quarter”.

MoveTo London Magazine chose Abell & Cleland to feature in its New Homes Round-up and also celebrated the location, close to Tate Britain, saying that “apartments at this new development are well placed, whether it’s fine art or political intrigues that set your heart racing”.

Prices at Abell & Cleland start from £1.15 million, and for further information or to book an appointment please call 0203 813 5884 or visit Berkeley’s website.

Mondays shouldn’t be hated – stay motivated!

Yesterday (Thursday 26th February), was National Employee Motivation Day 2016, created to inspire passion and appreciation across the UK’s workforce. With a recent study by Willis Towers Watson showing that health issues have a negative effect on productivity, the need for a stress-free and motivated workforce is more important than ever.

One of our clients, Fetcham Park, offers the perfect remedy for unmotivated employees. The serviced offices, which recently featured in the Surrey Advertiser’s Homes & Property supplement, are a prime example of an office environment focused on motivating its clients and their employees.

All these bridges – and we still can’t get over Vista’s wonderful views

The buzz surrounding the construction of the new Garden Bridge in London, beginning very soon, has inspired one property journalist to talk about the demand of riverside properties and those overlooking some of London’s most famous bridges.

In the article “The price of a view to sigh for”, in The Daily Telegraph on the 20th February, journalist Zoe Dare Hall explains that “developers are competing to build new homes overlooking London’s bridges”.

Featuring Berkeley’s Vista as a great example of this, thanks to its prime position on Queenstown Road, opposite Battersea Park and just along from Chelsea Bridge, the article talks about how bridges not only provide an anchor to the city’s past but are also helping to shape its future.

With a further 12 new river crossings planned for London by 2050, the demand for riverside properties is set to increase even further, thanks to the improved views and better cross-river transport links.

The final phase of Vista has now launched, and there are still one and two-bedroom apartments available. Call 020 3053 6900 to book an appointment, or visit Berkeley’s website here for more information.

Forget the Brits – PHM packs off yet another batch of award entries to the ES New Homes Awards

Awards season is in full swing in the UK and US with both the Oscars and Brit Awards all taking place this week. However, at PHM the red carpet has given way to the red pen as we have something a bit closer to home to get excited about – the London Evening Standard New Homes Awards!

The start of the year is always a busy time for PHM; alongside our day-to-day PR activity, we research, write and design award entries on behalf of our clients for these well-regarded awards. This year was no different and we sent off a total of 19 awards – that’s almost 900 pages –  to the organisers this week and let out a sigh of relief… quickly followed by a sharp inhalation of excitement!

The prestigious awards, which celebrate new homes in London and the Home Counties, are some of the most respected in the industry and the official gala luncheon, which takes place on 20th May at London’s Dorchester Hotel, is always a popular event.

Keep an eye on our blog to find out how clients got on in a few months’ time!

Our affordable housing clients prove there is a way out of the rent rut

In the same week that research by the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) revealed that by the time UK residents buy their first home they would have spent, on average, £50,000 on rent, we secured some fantastic press coverage in March’s edition of First Time Buyer Magazine for three of our affordable housing clients.

The developments featured in the magazine – schemes by Affinity Sutton, Network Living and Thames Valley Housing – prove it is possible to get on the property ladder sooner and prevent years of renting with the help of shared ownership.

One buyer who has done just that is Bunmi Odubanjo, who initially purchased a 5% share in a two-bedroom flat through Thames Valley Housing at The Serpentine. Just two years after putting down her original deposit, she had saved up enough money to put down a deposit on the remainder of the apartment to own it outright – a process known as staircasing.

Bunmi told FTB magazine: “It’s funny to look back three years to when I started the process and to realise that I’ve actually done it.”

Another Thames Valley Housing development, Westfield House in Earlsfield, also featured in a separate article about affordable homes in Zones 1-3, because of its great location for commuters and reasonable pricing, thanks to shared ownership.

In this same article, Thomas Odlum and Olivia Tinker also featured as a couple who overcame another of the barriers which first time buyer’s sometimes face – self-employment. However, thanks to Network Living’s help and understanding, Thomas and Olivia were able to secure a two-bedroom shared ownership apartment at Warehouse, in Streatham. Read more about their story here.

Last but by no means least, Affinity Sutton was not only mentioned as being on the shortlist for the 2016 First Time Buyer Awards’ Affordable Housing Provider of the Year (which you can vote for here), the magazine also featured a number of the housing association’s developments – The Meridian in Lewisham, Arun Place in Barnham and Oakgrove Village in Milton Keynes, thanks to their great commuter links and more importantly, their availability to purchase now!

To find out more about these fantastic shared ownership homes, call Affinity Sutton on 01252 320994, Thames Valley Housing on 020 8607 0550 and Network Living on 0300 373 3000.

Showcased by a digital magazine, or seen by millions of commuters, Berkeley’s stylish properties get around!

On 1st February, The London Economic featured the luxurious Abell & Cleland by Berkeley Homes in its property section.

Property Editor, Bea Patel, turned attention to the launch of the final phase of apartments and a brand new show home at Abell & Cleland – a stunning new development offering a unique opportunity to own a world-class address in historic Westminster.

The next day, the Metro’s Tuesday Property supplement turned the spotlight onto another Berkeley development, Vista – aptly-named due to its stunning views of Battersea Park and beyond. Vista featured in an article on the regeneration of the Battersea area (which includes a new tube station).

Picked up by around 3,300,000 readers daily, Metro’s Property supplement is a prime spot for those looking to target commuters, so if you have something to shout about, get in touch with us on 01483 561119.

Head-turning Highpoint coverage in The Sunday Times online

It’s easy to see at first-glance why The Sunday Times chose to include this stunning property as one of its ‘Houses of the Week’. As PHM itself is Guildford-based, it’s great to see one of our local properties in national publications.

The Sunday Times online is one of the most popular news apps, often having the most active views per week over the last couple of years. The popularity of newspaper apps means this coverage may have reached up to 400,000 subscribers to The Sunday Times online!

Six Highpoint is a beautifully presented two-bedroom apartment in an unusual building on the northern edge of Guildford town centre. The property is suitably modern, and offers an exciting opportunity to live somewhere that is truly unique, located in a traditional setting.

The vibrant and historic county town of Guildford provides everything you might expect of a town of its size. First-rate shopping, restaurants, and entertainment are all within easy walking distance. London transport links and top Surrey schools are also within reach.

For more information on Highpoint, or to book a viewing, visit or call Chantries on 01483 405222.
